4 DIY All-Natural Facial Masks to Keep Your Skin Glowing This Winter

Winter can truly be a harsh season on the skin. Catching the usual flu and battling the cold weather can definitely take their toll on your skin’s glow. Getting salon or spa facials can definitely wreak havoc to your bank account- we feel you! So, we have garnered up some of our absolute favourite DIY facial concoctions that you can make at home on a budget. Time to treat yourself!

Banana-Honey-Yogurt Combo:

The thing about bananas is that not only are they a nutritional powerhouse, they are chockful of nutrients that are great for the skin. The Vitamin A will work on clearing up acne, potassium will work on nourishing dry skin and the vitamin E will reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 TBS yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Mash all the ingredients together, and preferably use a ripe banana. Apply the paste to your face and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. For best results, use this mask 2-3 times a week.

Oatmeal-Coconut Oil Mask/Scrub: 

Oatmeal is a great natural exfoliant that softens and smoothes skin without drying it out. Coconut oil has amazing healing properties that allow it to clear out any acne breakouts.

Ingredients:

  • 1 TBS coconut oil
  • 1 TBS water
  • 2 TBS oatmeal/rolled oats

Mix the coconut with the water and then add the oats to the mixture. Apply the mask in circular motion to your face and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

Citrus-Based Glow:

‘Tis the season of citrus fruits and they are full of antioxidants which can tighten the skin, reduce acne scars and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Ingredients:

  • 3 TBS freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tsp honey

Squeeze out the juice of one lemon and add the orange juice and honey to it- mix all the ingredients well. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

Egg White Cleanse:

Egg whites are full of proteins which help tighten pores. They also work on clearing excess oil from the skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 TBS of honey

Separate the egg white from the yolk of one egg and mix it with the honey. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
