Sweet potato chips is one of the easiest snack recipes you can make. Whether you are making it for your kids (as an alternative for the highly processed chips) or for yourself to snack on while watching a movie. They are crispy, tasty, yummy, and just full of flavor! There is a trick to baking them so crispy as if they are fried: keep your oven at 200 degrees, flip the chips halfway to make sure they become crispy on both sides.
In all honesty, peanut butter is one of those foods that you really don’t need to buy from a store. Anyone who owns a food processor can make it in less than 10 minutes with only ONE ingredient (peanuts). YES, its that easy! Not only that, but it is much healthier too!! Most of the imported peanut butter that we find at all the supermarkets in Egypt contain hydrogenated oil and added sugar. We all know that nuts are already high in fats (the good kind of fats that our body recognizes and needs). Factories add hydrogenated oil to extend the shelf life of their products, and you know that saying of “the longer the shelf life, the shorter yours” so, no thank you, we don’t need the jar with the one year expiration date. Once you start making your own peanut butter or any nut butter at home, you will never go back to buying the manufactured ones. Try it!
I like to call them energy on a stick. The bitterness of the raw cacao and the natural sweetness of the dates are the perfect mix to satisfy your sweet tooth. Imagine having a sweet treat that is also an excellent source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Dates are a rich source of B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, copper, manganese, calcium, and iron. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring and the date pops are the biggest example of a delicious, fun, tasty but healthy treat.
I used to do be a morning coffee drinker. I needed my cup of coffee to function and start my day, or so I thought. But,believe me when I tell you this, put in mind that this is coming from a previous coffee addict, the green smoothie has replaced my coffee addiction in the morning. I no longer need coffee first thing in the morning or throughout the day for that matter, but we will get into that later.
The best time to consume the green smoothie is early in the morning to get the maximum benefits out of it. You can always have it as a snack between meals as well; its low in calories and high in fiber so it can fill you up between meals.
The green smoothie is full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, and energy.
We have noticed that a couple of the local supermarkets in Egypt are starting to sell almond milk. This is good news but when your only option is buying the imported ones at about 35 pounds a carton, homemade almond milk starts sounding more appealing for two reasons: zero preservatives (healthier) and less expensive! Eating healthy or drinking in this case doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. If you drink it occasionally then, it’s not that big of a deal. But for someone like me who substitutes almond milk for dairy in almost everything, its get a little too much. So, the good news is that we can make our own almond milk at home and all you really need is almonds, water and a food processor (you can scroll down for the ingredients)
Homemade almond milk ensures that the milk is raw with zero preservatives and full of its optimal nutritional power. You also get to control the sweetness, fat content, thickness, and taste. I don’t know about you, but I like to know what exactly goes into my food. Almond milk is a rich source of vitamin E, magnesium, and potassium. Not only that but it is cholesterol free.
