TDC Picks: Ramadan’s Healthiest Drinks and Desserts from Glow

in Health/Live by

Over the years, Ramadan has become somewhat synonymous with certain foods and drinks. While there are many traditions that have stuck around, the food scene in Ramadan is ever-changing. The traditional Ramadan food and drinks we were used to having seen many tricks and twists over the year. While we do love innovation, our health-conscious bellies prefer that we stick to basics. Which means we don’t indulge in the Nutella kunafa hype when we crave it, we prefer the basic kunafa that mama makes best.

Which is why we were practically over the moon when we found out that one of our favorite health-conscious brands is introducing the ultimate back-to-basics Ramadan products! This year, GLOW is introducing a new Ramadan line which includes 2 mousses and 5 beverages. The idea behind this line is going back to basics with clean ingredients minus all the added sugars and preservatives. As usual, all their products are dairy-free and gluten-free. They use honey to sweeten some of their products that need that extra sweet kick, but some of the products are naturally sweet due to the ingredients used in them.

Instead of adding their own twist to the traditional products, GLOW decided to go against the hype and actually went back to the traditional way of doing things, for example, their Qamar el-Din Mousse is made using the traditional way of soaking dried apricots overnight and then slowly cooking them until they become soft and mushy. They are then blended and sweetened ever so slightly (using honey) to become a beautiful soft mousse that works well as a healthy dessert.

“Sometimes we forget that the most beneficial and healing ingredients are the local ones, they’re the plants that grow where we live. Those ingredients are extremely nutrient dense so they have the power to heal us and help us thrive.”

If you’re wondering how these traditional Ramadan beverages and mousses can be considered healthy, here are some of the benefits of the ingredients that are used:

  • Regulating digestion
  • Stabilizing blood pressure
  • Lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Immune boosting

The products are all curated using natural ingredients that reap many benefits and keep your digestive system, your health, and your mental well-being all in check this Ramadan. If you’re ready to give up your sugar-filled Ramadan, check out the list of products (including ingredients!) below and be sure to order yours to enjoy a guiltless Ramadan!
