The 2010 Ambassador of the Arts in Egypt, Coucla Refaat is a photographer that documents her travels using a multitude of mediums from photos to videos to even a published book called Dance of Life that features photographs showing Coucla’s journey in Thailand as a female traveler. But, she’s not merely a travel photographer, she’s created photo and video content for all kinds of brands and institutions. And to top all that off she’s led photography expeditions across Asia! Here she shares five quick tips about her career in photography
What do you do consistently for time management?
First, you have to list your tasks and prioritize them. Then, you have to make a to do a list of all your priorities. This is one of the best ways to ensure things get done!
What is one resource you wish you knew about when you were starting out?
Well, I can’t really pinpoint a resource, but I do recommend that anyone starting keeps an eye out for images
What’s the best career advice anyone has ever given you?
If you want to do something and I mean really do something, you pick yourself up and do it because the truth is that nobody will do it for you.
What do you do to motivate yourself when you feel like giving up?
I make sure to remind myself why I am doing this in the first place.
When the creative block happens, I make sure to give myself time to relax and understand that need to detach from the things that are affecting my line of thoughts.
What do you recommend to photographers trying to find their own style?
They, should be practicing a lot and evaluate their own work all the time. They should be constantly trying to shoot all kind of styles whether its landscape, portraits, documentary etc. to know what they like the most.
I recommend looking at a lot of images from different photographers this would actually help to decide which style and define more details when shooting.
