Glowing skin and beautiful hair doesn’t mean spending lots of money on expensive, fanciful beauty products. Skin, hair and body care can be as simple as paying a visit to your kitchen where all natural ingredients can be found and used to keep you looking and feeling your best. Here are some of my favorite beauty-ful recipes and hacks straight out of the kitchen.
Turmeric Face MaskThis is a very popular Indian beauty mask that enhances the facial glow, correcting pigmentation, drying out acne, with the potential to heal rosacea. Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of yogurt. Apply to the face for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
Lemon and Salt Scrub for BlackheadsTo get rid of those annoying and very stubborn black dots found on your nose or chin, steam your face for five minutes (to help open the pores and loosen up any trapped dirt), and combine the juice of half a lemon and ½ teaspoon of salt. Scrub problem areas and rinse with ice cold water.
Honey Face MaskSimple and so effective, a favorite kitchen remedy of mine is applying raw honey all over my face for 30 minutes. Honey is a natural antiseptic, cleansing skin all the while improving the tone and softness of it. If ever you’re in desperate need of a refreshed complexion, use this as your go-to pick-me-up.
Brown Sugar and Sweet Almond Oil ScrubThis is a weekly scrub that I can’t live without. I use it on my hands, feet, face, knees and body. Simply mix 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and ½ teaspoon of sweet almond oil, rub on problem areas and rinse with water.
Coconut Powder and Yogurt Facial ScrubOne of the most refreshing facial scrubs ever, the combination of coconut and yogurt will leave your skin feeling so soft and supple. Take 5 teaspoons of coconut powder and mix with ½ tsp of fresh yoghurt. Scrub your face with the mixture for two minutes and rinse.
MayonnaiseYou may not think it, but that jar of mayonnaise is one of the best conditioners for your hair. See for yourself by applying mayonnaise to your hair evenly and securing with a shower cap. Leave that on for three hours and wash hair normally afterwards.
Avocado Mask for Dry SkinTo cure dry or dehydrated skin, mash ½ an avocado and mix it with one teaspoon of sweet almond oil, one teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of yogurt. Leave that on for 20 minutes and rinse. Feel free to use this mask daily.
Baking Soda Face MaskFor acne-prone skin, baking soda works wonders clearing away impurities and drying pimples out. Combine 1 tablespoon of cold water with 1 1/2 tablespoons of baking soda. Keep the mixture on the face for 15 minutes, rinse with warm water, and finish with your normal skincare routine.
