When it comes to anti-aging, the trend usually goes towards brand-name creams and expensive treatments. What we usually tend to forget is that the best remedies are usually found in nature; more specifically in one specific nutrient that can be found in so many of nature’s beautiful products. Vitamin C is the ultimate anti-aging vitamin.
With all the creams going and treatment fads around, most people overlook the benefits of vitamin C on the skin. This nutrient can put you on the right track to slow your skin’s aging process. Vitamin C deficiency can cause your skin to age quicker and signs of aging, like wrinkles, start to show.
Prevent Wrinkles
Look at the back of most anti-aging products and you’ll find that they’re marketed as “antioxidants” and lately Vitamin C has been making its way as a key ingredient in these products. Antioxidants, like vitamin C, have the ability to strengthen blood vessels and give skin both elasticity and strength which makes the skin glow, look younger and fresher.
In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2007, it was found that people who consumed foods that are rich in vitamin C have fewer wrinkles and less dry skin. This was believed to be due to the fact that vitamin C helps form collagen that delays signs of aging and reduces wrinkles.
Revitalize Your Skin
Vitamin C helps the body produce more collagen, which helps keep skin healthy and radiant as well as help clear toxins. Collagen deficiency can make the skin appear dull, this is why it is recommended to increase vitamin C intake, to help boost collagen performance in the body and keep your skin looking youthful.
