We’re always on the lookout for incredible souls that inspire us to live life with a skip in our step and a sparkle in our eyes. Today, we interviewed one of those passionate souls whose story could inspire you to see that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Here is Luciana, inspiring women every day to accept themselves, their bodies and showing them how extraordinary they truly are.

1. Tell us a little about who Luciana is?

I am 41-years-young. I am actually Brazilian. I landed in Egypt 18 years ago in what was supposed to be a 3-month work opportunity. I have 3 boys, an 11-year-old boy, and twins aged 7. They changed my life and then changed it again. I started working in Pole Fit Egypt over 3 years ago as an instructor and in January 2017, I left my advertising career to manage the operations of Pole Fit Egypt’s studios beside being an instructor there.

2. I understand that you weren’t always a pole fitness instructor? Could you tell us how different was your life before Pole Fit Egypt?

I would describe myself as a career-oriented working mom with an extremely demanding job. I worked as a creative director in a big multinational advertising agency and I had very little time for myself. I would rarely spend any time with my kids or my family. Taking care of my health or my body was not something I would even think about.

3. What made you come to Pole Fit Egypt?

I wish there was a more glamorous answer, but actually, it was a midlife crisis. I never liked or practiced any sports. I was that person who signs up for a year membership at the gym and never shows up. Then one day I saw a video of a colleague and I was so intrigued. She told me anyone could join at any time. I was in a time of my life where I needed change so I went for fun, just to try it.

4. What made you want to become a Pole Fit Egypt instructor?

I genuinely care about people and in advertising that wasn’t always a good thing. At the time, one of my kids asked me “How are you a community helper mommy?” and I was embarrassed to not find an appropriate answer. I realized how important it was for me to feed my soul by doing something more meaningful. Empowering women through Pole is my way of doing that.

5. Do you remember your first pole class? How did you feel trying pole for the first time? Were you scared or excited going in? How did you feel afterward?

I do remember. I was 36 years old and I felt like a grandma in the room. We were all intimidated for different reasons but then Mint walked in with her big smile and positive energy and set a completely different mood. To my surprise, I did very well. I went back to work that night and all I could think of was my next class.

6. How do you think practicing pole and teaching others pole fitness changed how you view yourself?

The way pole challenges your body and your mind, and the feeling of accomplishment you get from doing something that seemed impossible is extremely liberating. Every tiny success makes you more confident and in contact with yourself. Pole is therapy for me. It helped me set my priorities and be more conscious of what I do with my time in this life.

7. What do you wish more women knew about pole fitness?

That it’s possible for you no matter your fitness level, body shape or any other excuse we give ourselves. That it’s fun, liberating and that from day one you will meet a community full of diversity and unconditional love ❤

If this doesn’t make you feel like booking your first class I don’t know what will. Just reading this woman’s incredible story honestly tore at my heartstrings. It’s amazing to see human beings taking charge of their life and turning it to something that makes their soul glow.
