When it comes to getting ready for uni, we all want to look put together in the least amount of time possible. Post hitting the snooze one too many times and grabbing a quick bite, we are left with only a few minutes to make ourselves look presentable. Luckily, the ‘messy’ look is seriously in this fall, as was shown during New York Fashion Week this month. From designers like Tom Ford, Coach 1941 and Marc Jacobs, looking messily put together has proven to be the trend for the upcoming year. Wanting to apply this messy look to our wardrobe for uni, we drew inspiration from none other than Egyptian college girls:
Wanting to get ready in just 15 minutes, Mariam Zaki opted for an athletic all-black look that is both comfortable and trendy. Her t-shirt and sweatpants are from Zara, whereas her shoes are from Adidas and her cap is from 9FORTY. This look is perfect for running from class to class and then hitting the gym later.
The key to adding a little oomph to an otherwise plain outfit is throwing on a statement piece. Mayan El Sayed knows that all too well as her oversized Zara denim jacket serves as a casual yet outspoken statement piece.
One go-to way to pull off a messy look is to opt for layering some neutral coloured pieces as Nour Basha did. Black and olive go hand-in-hand to create a body-flattering look as does the cut of her black denim overalls from Bershka.
The ‘Basic’ Look:
One rule of thumb when it comes to nailing uni style in no time: know your basics and how to style them. Farah Cherif went for high waisted, medium-washed denim and a plain black t-shirt. Styling them with brightly coloured Nikes gave the look a nice finishing touch.
The ‘Versatile’ Look:
Is she giving an important presentation or is she just running to a class? Sahar Shalaby’s look is just the perfect balance between casual and smart. With black being the colour king of versatility, she used it as the base of her look and then added a patterned kimono to jazz it up.
The ‘Minimal’ Look:
When it comes to making a subtle fashion statement, less is always more. With a neutral colour palette and minimalist accessories, Rawan El Araby managed to put together this look in 20 minutes without breaking a sweat. We especially love the contrast between the plain white tee and the maroon knit cardigan.
To wrap this up, it is possible to be fashionable without spending an hour getting ready. Keep our tips in mind and you will save yourself a few extra minutes of sleep because we know how uni life can make everyone feel sleep-deprived!
