As much as we hate to admit it, summer break is almost over. Let’s face it, who wants to go back to waking up at 5 am and still not find time to have a decent breakfast?

Everyone tries to find a reason to look forward to school or at least not be miserable during the “best years of our life”! – God, I hope they’re not-

We’ve gathered a few tips for everyone to get ready for school and have a stress-free year!

What To Do The Night Before

To actually have time to have a healthy breakfast, everything has to be ready the night before; You need to prepare and iron your clothes, pack your lunch, and prepare your schedule.

Not only does this help you have breakfast before you go, but it also allows you to sleep in a little longer.

You could pack your lunch the night before and put it in the fridge. It’s best if your lunch contains fruit or a vegetable and if you keep your options wide so you don’t get bored with the same lunch every day.

Pro-Tip:

Sleep early to give yourself enough space to wake up. For example, if you know that you need to wake up at 6 am. Then, sleep at 9 or 10 pm. That way if you wake up an hour late, you’d wake up at 6 am. This is better than sleeping exactly 6 hours earlier and leaving no space for waking up late.

 What to Do in the Morning of School

1. Breakfast

This advice will never get old; breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

When you have a healthy, wholesome breakfast, you fuel yourself up with enough energy to be productive at school. Also, you protect yourself from mood swings throughout the day.

Wake up as early as you can so that you have time for a healthy breakfast.

Here are some great breakfast ideas:

  • Cereal and milk with fruit.
  • Toast and a smoothie (We recommend cutting up bananas and blend them with milk).
  • Pancakes/Waffles and fruit or juice.

2. Morning Activity: Stretching/Meditation

If you sleep early and wake up to a healthy breakfast as we just mentioned above, you’ll have time to squeeze in 7-15 minutes for morning stretches or a quick meditation session – If you’re into that –

Stretching

When we’re asleep, our muscles tighten up and we wake up with tension. Stretching in the morning helps release this tension, and also boost your energy and push you towards a calmer mood throughout the day.

If you’re new to stretching, there are many stretching apps that can get you started. You’ll find that most of them have quick and effective ways to boost your mood and ease the stress out of your body!

Meditation

Starting your day with a morning meditation can gently release grogginess and help set the conditions for a more successful day.

Meditation increases the blood flow to the brain, reduces cortisol – which causes stress – and boosts your memory and immunity system.

Also, people who meditate daily have good mental health, and it’s very rare to find them depressed or anxious.

3. Do Morning Chores

We need to stop looking at our phones once we wake up!

Turning on your TV or looking at your feed once you wake up can make you lazy and lead to you being late. Instead, save up some time for your early chores.

Some Chores You Can Do

  • Make you bed
  • Walk your dog
  • Feed your cat
  • Wake up your siblings so they don’t miss their bus

You can also set your own chores.

Pro-Tip:

When you set weekly calendars and plan out your daily tasks beforehand, it will be helpful. This way you can manage your time between studying, exercising, playing music, and any other hobby without feeling stressed or rushed.

4. Bonus

In case you need a push to wake up and not snooze, leaving the curtains open will do the job. The daylight will give you the extra motivation you need to get up and start your morning routine for school.
