When it comes to getting a manicure, many of us working women want it to be quick, efficient and… did I say quick? We have to squeeze the appointment into our already busy schedules because having chipped nail polish is hardly ever in fashion. So, with the aim of making everyone’s lives a bit easier, I put 4 of Cairo’s top nail salons to the test to see who will reign in terms of our criteria.

Dida Nail Studio – New Cairo:

Waiting Time: 5 minutes

Service Time: 50 minutes

Days Before Manicure Started Chipping: 5 days

Overall Service Rating: 4/5 stars

The friendly staff at Dida was what makes really distinguished this salon for me. From the minute I walked in to the minute I walked out, everyone there was super relaxed and friendly. The salon wasn’t at all crowded during the time of my visit and the spacious interior had a calming effect. Julia was the one who took care of my nails that day and to say she was meticulous would be an understatement. She began by sanitizing my hands, adding cuticle oil, then rinsing them in bath salts. After that she gently removed extra bits of the cuticle, filed them, moisturized them and then applied the manicure seamlessly. She helped me with choosing a colour and needless to say my nails looked flawless. Perhaps, the one slight downside was the fact that the service was lengthy in terms of time.

Frenchies – Zamalek

Waiting Time: 5 minutes

Service Time: 30 minutes

Days Before Gel Manicure Started Chipping: 2 weeks

Overall Service Rating: 4.5/5 stars

I found this quaint, Parisienne-inspired nail spa is tucked away in the middle of Zamalek and thought I had to give it a try. The interior is absolutely gorgeous with big cozy pink armchairs and gorgeous manicure displays. I met up with Yasmine, the owner of Frenchies, who gushed all about how she has always been obsessed with having beautiful nails and wanted to offer women top notch nail services at her spa. I had scheduled an appointment earlier and my nails were being taken care of by Nadia in no time. I had initially planned on getting a basic manicure, but seeing as how Gel nails were Nadia’s specialty and I was going to have a grilling, super busy two weeks, I decided to opt for a manicure option that would stay on for a longer time. Nadia began by removing the nail polish I had on before, sanitizing my hands and applying cuticle oil then filing my nails to perfection. This was the fastest time I had ever gotten gel nail polish applied. Nadia’s artistic side was evident as she applied tiny crystals to my christmas-inspired nails. Everything about Frenchies was on point and I truly enjoyed getting my nails bedazzled.

Tip to Toe Spa – Heliopolis:

Waiting Time: 10 minutes

Service Time: 35  minutes

Days Before Manicure Started Chipping: 5 days

Overall Service Rating: 4/5 stars

This nail spa’s interior was meticulously adorned with pastel colours with the pink-and-white theme taking center stage in terms of the decor. I was immediately seated by the super friendly manager and after a few minutes, the talented Amira began taking care of my nails. She quickly removed my nail polish, rinsed my hands, added cuticle oil and removed excess bits of the cuticle and began filing my nails. She was extremely precise with the shape of my nails as I had asked her to shorten them a bit. We picked together a light pastel pink colour and applied it ever so seamlessly. During the service, Amira gave me all sorts of tips on taking care of my nails and even chatted about other beauty treatments that she recommends.

The Nail Factory – Zamalek:

Waiting Time: 2 minutes

Service Time: 40 minutes

Days Before Manicure Started Chipping: 4 days

Overall Service Rating: 3/5 stars

What stood out for me at The Nail Factory were the daily offers. For every day of the week, they have a different offer for a different beauty service. The minute I walked in, I was seated and Nora urged me to pick a nail polish colour from their palette while recommending shades that would complement my skin tone. She removed the nail polish I previously had on, rinsed my hands, applied cuticle oil and removed excess bits of the cuticle. She quickly filed my nails then applied a strengthening base coat as she recommended it for my nails. After that, she applied the manicure colour and sealed it off with a strengthening top coat. During my visit, I did not feel quite at ease as there was very evident tension between the staff, and perhaps that was one of the downsides. My nails polish was kind of cakey and 4 hours later was not perfectly dry, which left me with gooey nail polish.
