Recipe: Chocolate Sweet Potato Brownies

A perfectly chocolatey and delicious brownie recipe that is 100% animal product free. Sweet potato brownies have been making a splash on the clean eating scene and we've tried and tested (even passed the kid test) this recipe to guarantee a truly delicious vegan baking experience!



2 Sweet potatoes, medium to large

1 cup White flour

2/3 cup Almonds, ground

10 Dates, medjool or soft

4 tbsp Raw cacao

1 tsp Baking powder

1/4 tsp Salt

2 tbsp Maple syrup


Pre-heat the oven to 200C.

Place a mid sized pot with water on the stove and bring to a boil.

Peel the sweet potatoes, cut them into cubes and place them in the boiling water until they are cooked and soft.

Once they are completely soft, remove them and let cool before placing in a food processor.

Mix the sweet potatoes in the processor and gradually start adding the pitted dates and maple syrup. Keep mixing until both ingredients are completely blended and it becomes a very creamy mixture.

In a separate bowl add the rest of the ingredients and mix them well.

Add the sweet potato mixture to the dry ingredients and stir well

Place a sheet of parchment (baking) paper in a baking dish and pour the batter over it. Spread evenly.

Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick or a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let cool completely before cutting or serving.
