We’re all living a fast-paced life and we always love all-in-one options when it comes to our beauty and health regimens. Dry-brushing, which many celebrities, the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, have raved about, is one of those all-in-one methods that takes little time to do, wouldn’t break the bank and has an array of benefits.
What You Need:
All you need for dry-brushing is a simple bristly brush with a long handle to allow you to reach all your parts of your body with ease.
How to Do It:
You need to brush downwards to upwards, which means starting from the toes and upwards towards the neck. Simply brush each area thoroughly in a circular motion, while keeping in mind that some areas are more sensitive than others and would need you to be extra gentle and careful. It’s also important to remember that you should always dry brush towards your heart.
How It Works:
To simply put it, dry brushing works by removing excess dead skin and dirt from the outer layer of the skin. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and so it accumulates many toxins throughout the day.
- Lymphatic Boost: Because many of the lymph vessels run right below the skin surface, the pressure from the brushing helps with the flow of lymph. This, in turn, gives a boost to one’s immunity and helps with the excretion of toxins.
- Reducing the Appearance of Cellulite: Because the pressure from the brushing stimulates blood circulation, dry brushing can help reduce the visibility of cellulite.
- Exfoliation: The strokes from the bristles of the brush help with exfoliating dead skin cells, dirt and excess oil from the skin, which in turn will leave you with softer more rejuvenated skin.
- Energy Boost: Due to improving circulation, dry brushing will make you feel more awake and energetic.
