We love our make-up here at The Daily Crisp HQ. And although our inner beauty blogger doesn’t come out every day we’re still concerned about the beauty products we use. Becoming more conscious individuals is part of our self-improvement maxim. Which is why we’re giving you a list of the top 5 cruelty-free makeup brands that are available in Egypt. That’s because we honestly, can’t really imagine why anyone would want to harm a fuzzy bunny, even for the matte-est lipstick!
We’re putting this brand at the top of the list because they’ve been cruelty-free and have not tested on animals since 1989. They’ve gotten awards for their status too. The French brand is focussed on being wholly sustainable. So far, since they have launched their eco-tube design 100% of their bath and shower products are biodegradable and many of their products placed in glass jars are recyclable as well.
The brand that originated in Brighton Rock in 1976 is something of a global phenomenon today. Their products have been cruelty-free since 1989. The Body Shop was also a strong advocate for cruelty-free makeup brands in the UK. Through a petition with 8 million signatures, they aided in banning animal testing in the UK with their 2017 #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting campaign. They also ensure that they gather their ingredients through fair trade with local farmers.
Animal testing is a big no-no for essence. They make it clear that they do not conduct animal tests for their products, ingredients or raw materials. Despite the EU ban on animal testing in 2009, the brand prides itself on being cruelty-free even before that. They even shut down nay-sayers who believe their cruelty-free status to be false through an informative FAQ page.
Lord and Berry comply with EU manufacturing and does not conduct any tests on our furry friends. The palm oil that is present in most of their products is sustainably sourced. Plus, most manufacturing happens in Italy so they don’t commission or outsource any of their animal tests. Their products are also nut, and gluten-free and some of their product lines are vegan.
Inglot is a newcomer in the Egyptian cosmetic retail scene but it’s still worth pointing out. The brand prides itself on not conducting any animal testing whatsoever from raw materials to finished product. They also point out that they do not commission any of their suppliers to tests on their behalf.
Rather than leave you with just these 5 cruelty-free makeup brands that are available in retail stores in Egypt we decided to include a list of popular cosmetic brands that are cruelty-free as well:
